Cleaning up ... sort of

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
No, I haven't spend the holidays cleaning up my room, but I got the idea to sort through all of my games and see which ones I like to keep, which ones I should re-buy in the English version and which ones I can not play anymore due to compatability issues and those whom I never going to play again at any rate.

So far I got most games running, some I know I will get running and some I am not sure, but I just found out how to get older windows game running here on my Vista 64, now I see to it that I get the Broken Sword issues fixed up.

But first I should get dressed and be ready to attend dinner I am sure we start at 1p.m. but better get ready in time and see if I can help. Hmm, wild boar *yummy*

Okay, optimistic but skeptical

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
So, the last components of my new pc arrived, I started it and it did not blow up. That makes me feel optimistic. However the Vista set up goes very slowly. I thought something was wrong and it would not start at all, but then the screen showed up and now it's installing the infos ...

I'm sooo nervous ... but the fans are all working, it detected the harddisk, the two dvd roms and the graphic card seems to work, too! The lan cable is a bit short, but I guess I'll have to live with that until I find one that is longer than 5 meters without costing a fortune.

Oh this is killing me, better get dressed instead of staring at the install bar ... (yes, I was up till 5 a.m. today and got up at 10:36 a.m. when my mom asked me for the car keys (only to realise that she had them *rollseyes*)

I'll keep you updated on how things turned out ...

Movement

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Okay, I spend again a lot of money *cough* oh well some of it was paying fees, for phone and insurance, but 65 Euros went to a graphic card and some cables, so I might finally resolve that pc problem (at the moment I still have the feeling it won't work that I made some mistake and everything will just heat over or not even start at all ...)

I think it might arrive Wednesday ...

Today I did not do much, except uni, working on my homepage and making a weekly schedule that is supposed to help me keep up with my duties (vacuuming, watering the plants, cleaning the rabbits and take out the trash ...) but I can't print it out yet, as it seems my coloured ink cartridge is empty. *sighs* more money for a new one.

I probably should have ordered everything with the other supplies, but I did not thought of it. I know all I did was resisting buying a 500 MB harddrive for the same money I used to purchase the other stuff. *lol* But I will sooner or later ... screencaps and vids I will come next year or so ;)

Parts missing

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Okay, my 300GB does not fit, but I got a port for floppy disk drive (yeah like I need that)

also I don't have connector cable for the other harddrive and the one for the cddrives is too short.

And here is the kicker, I need a new graphic card. *sighs*

okay, *brr* time to rent a few more csi ny episodes.

Back from my bike tour

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Wow that was kind of interesting. During the first kilometer, my legs hurt so bad I was thinking about turning back. Then I decided to do it, even if I would need to stop every mile or so. After a few kilometers it actually became fun and only the last two or so were painful again.

I refreshed myself, now I will make dinner and eat something. Then I will try and assemble my pc.

pc update

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
No, I haven't yet assembled the pc, been to the shop here in ROW and they did not have a cpu fan.

However, the guy promised he could order one so it would arrive tomorrow. Instead I bought a new harddisk, an additional one, which I intend to use as the main drive. It has 160 GBs, before I had a 20 GB, but the new motherboard has only one slot for an ATA, but four(!) for SATA. I thought I go with an 80GB, but the other one cost only 10 Euros more. I could not resist, so with everything going I should have 450 GB pure space *woot* the 300 GB will be pure storage ...

I'm so anxious about re-assembling the whole set ... and excited at the same time. Not that I do not like this notebook, but I prefer having a real personal computer once again. Enough USB ports, my big harddrive ... *hmm* tomorrow!

Finally shipped

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Just got the confirmation that my computer parts have been shipped. With luck that means I do get them friday and thus might be able to get everything working for the weekend. The only thing I still need to buy, as i forgot to order it along is a cooler for my processor. The local expert will have to do.

I still need to write this stupid essay for tomorrow and a quiz in the next seminar which should start at 7 p.m.

I really want to go home ... I feel uncreative and bored here. Will be home late as I went by train, which will leave at 21:28 so I'll be at home around 22 p.m.

Also on a more fannish note, I wish I could stop thinking about a moonlight fanfiction. But the nerd in me would first have to establish the canon thoroughly which will be just as with Van Helsing a mess, as there are soo many plot holes and inconsistencies. Then I would need to outline the plot ideas ... [info]idolizer can probably guess which guest character will play a huge part in that fanfiction. *lol*

argh once again

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
My Computer is now freezing up various programs at random. Have migrated mostly to my notebook, but no way that I can write the essay on this shitty little keyboard. I go crazy.

Will probably take some time till I have everything under control again. Now I need to relax a bit and then I will finish that essay. Or else my beta reader might not have enough time to check it.
